Trucks: pulling power where it counts

On a truck, tuning is about low-down torque and an engine that has to work less. This is how we approach it.

On a truck, tuning is about different things than on a sports car. A truck covers a lot of kilometres a year, often fully loaded and on a tight schedule. What counts is torque at low engine speeds and an engine that has to work as little as possible for the same trip.

Why low-down torque matters

With more torque low in the rev range, a truck can stay in a higher gear for longer, even on a slope or with a full load. That means fewer gear changes, a calmer engine and a driver who has to correct less.

Whether that saves fuel depends on the route, the load and the driving style. That is why we do not quote fixed percentages. If you want to know exactly, compare the consumption over a few weeks on the same routes.

What we adjust

  • Injection and boost, within the limits of the engine and driveline
  • The torque limit, matched to the gearbox
  • A lower top speed, if the customer wants one
  • The idle speed, for example for work with a power take-off

Reading a truck

Truck ECUs are read through the diagnostic port or directly on the unit, depending on the make and type. Use a tool that supports the type and always make a full backup first. With your request, give us the make, the type, the engine code, the power and the tool you read with.

Who it is for

For haulage companies, truck workshops and dealers who want more from an existing fleet. Every file is made per vehicle from its own read. If several trucks share the same engine and software version, we check per request whether the same base fits.
